This is my third year participating in the A to Z Blogging
Challenge, but the first time I think that I really understand why I do it each
year. Not only for the exposure to new blogs and potential blogging buddies,
but also for what I gain internally. This year I did a theme, “26 Things I Love
About France.” I had no idea what a joyride this was going to be for me, to
reminisce, to have other folks “traveling” along with me. I didn’t “gain” many followers
that I know of, but I had more contact with myself, my memories. I had the
chance to really look at how lucky I’ve been in my life and to have such an
amazing stockpile of photos to sift through. I enjoyed having the folks along
who chose to go with me and to each of
you, I thank you.
I learned so much on so many different blogs that my head
spun, with laughter, with commiseration and sympathy, with thoughtful moments
and joy. I found a cool Space/Science blog, another with the A to Z on dogbreeds, another writer posted “Twilight Zone” type short stories and another
where everything he posted had to do with dreams and movies. Another one
documented her ancestry/family in the past. And these are only a few of the new
ones I found, not the ones I already follow from last year!
I also learned how to get my posts out (I hope) on more than
one site, thanks to IWSGs Facebook page and the A to Z blogging challenge’s FBpage. I also tweeted my posts. I reposted them on my Wordpress page and Google+.
I felt more
connected this time with others participating in the challenge and admire the
dedication it took for all of us to do this 26 times in one month. I hope the A
to Z will still be on in April next year, because I can’t wait to see what I
come up with to write about, and what I might discover on the adventure that is
A to Z. A huge thank you and hug to
those who found me and commented on my blog, and to those I didn’t get to, I
have a year to catch up! Happy Blogging!
I also saved the blogs I’d like to revisit on Pinterest so I can go to one
place and find them. That’s my new use for Pinterest (besides sharing what I
like or don’t like).

Glad you had a good time and enjoyed yourself. I didn't gain a lot of new followers, but that's not why I did it either. And cool you cross-posted at the IWSG Facebook site.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm glad we have so many opportunities to get our posts out in the public eye! On my way to your blog now...
DeleteIt was a good month :) I had a lot of fun with my random just the things I enjoy posts. Always a challenge but a fun one :)
ReplyDeleteSo true. I had a good month as well. I LOVE the name of your blog, and its content, so I pinned it on my Blogs I Like board...
DeleteI haven't used Pinterest to tag blogs but I've seen people do it (*ponders*). Congrats on finishing! I'll check through your posts--I don't think I made it to your blog.
ReplyDeleteHere's my A to Z wrap-up post. I also have an End of Challenge book giveaway going on for either contemporary romance or contemporary YA.
Thanks for dropping by Stephsco, I do it because I hate having to go to different places to find the blogs I want to return to. On pinterest they are all in one place, with no ads like on Feedspot...
DeleteI'm sorry I missed most of your posts. I had a busy April, so I didn't even get to participate this year.
ReplyDeleteNo problem Diane. I know how it goes, just glad you were able to stop by now! Thanks for commenting...
DeleteLisa, I loved your posts, and thank you so much for your support during the challenge!
ReplyDeleteI'm so kicked you enjoyed the challenge, and as I noted in my reflection post on Amlokiblogs, I loved that participants like you took to social media in a big way! Look forward to your posts till the next AZ :)
Thanks so much. I really really enjoyed your blog and now follow you... I must be a glutton because I've also signed up for the A to Z road trip! Agh! http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/2014/05/whos-ready-for-4th-annual-post.html
DeleteHi human, Lisa,
ReplyDeleteApawlogies for not getting here sooner. Such is the life of this celebrity dawg! :)
My human and I adored your pawsts about France. Gary loves France and the French. He has to keep this a bit of a secret with the English.
Linking your blogs into the various social notworking, sorry, networking sites is a very good idea. I always make sure to to take the liberty of sharing your pawsts and virtually everybody.
Nice reflection on your reflection about reflecting reflections about the amazing alphabet challenge, dear human.
Pawsitive wishes,
Penny, the cordial host of The Alphabark Challenge, 2014! :)
There you go again, making my day! Thanks for coming by. I know you and Gary have a very busy schedule Penny! Always enjoy when you drop in...
DeleteI concur with what you say about the internal growth and tapping into one's own resources. I still like getting the followers and I love the community building, but the amassing of content and the honing of writing skills makes me a better blogger I think.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing and thanks for all the comments you left on my blogs.

You betcha Lee! This was such a fun A to Z this year. I hope also, that it's helped make me a better blogger as well...
DeleteWell done! You did better than me, but I also managed to finish the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Miriam for your comment! Congrats on finishing as well! Now I'm a glutton I guess because I just signed up for the post A to Z road trip! http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/2014/05/whos-ready-for-4th-annual-post.html
DeleteGood luck!
Hi Lisa .. well I learnt a lot here - apart from loving your tour of France, which was brilliant .. and the A-Z itself.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you do with your WP blog or page? Do you find G+ useful? And not knowing Pinterist .. I see you're using that medium too .. for pinning blogs you enjoy ...
I must learn more about the social aspects of blogging and life - not having a particularly social family I've left FB off the list too - I do a bit ... still I'll get myself organised ...
Cheers for now and see you soon ... and thanks for all your support over the A-Z .. it's wonderful having friends visit .. and encourage us on .. Hilary
Hilary, with the wordpress blog, for the moment I repost from this blog, and oft times will post something there like an article on line that I like, that sort of thing. WP has a "Press this" button for your tool bar and all I have to do is hit that when I'm at a site I want to post about, and it pops up on my WP blog. I use Pinterest for anything and everything I like or sometimes dislike, to get the word out there, and as you noticed, to save things I want to see or use again without having to go all over the internet to find it, like a photographers website, or recipes, or your blog! Anything that will let me "pin" it. Pinterest also has "Pin it" button on my tool bar that I use... If you'd like to see my pinterest page, just go to... http://www.pinterest.com/lisabuiecollard/... G+ I use as I use my WP blog... I'm not very consistent yet between all the mediums, but progress is being made!
DeleteCongratulations on completing the challenge.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you got something new out of the challenge this year. This year I think that I learned more about commenting on the blogs that I read, last year it was learning to blog every day. I'm curious about what I'll learn next year.
