Down the road from Ocala can be found “The Villages.” Most
folks think of the Villages as a place for “old” or retired people, and it is.
But only in the "barest" sense of the definition.

Do they look bored to you?! Lacking a sense of humor? Didn't think so! |
|
Love the "cars" and the parking here! |
This place is bustling! One of
the fastest growing areas in central Florida, it is packed with activities for all ages.
Don’t forget, “old” folks have families
that come and visit! So, take your pick on what you’d like to discover…Time’s a
wastin’!

Hi Lisa - well they certainly look like they're having fun .. and what a great place for retired folk ... where they're in a community - so help is available .. looks fun!! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've heard, there was s a HUGE community of Rhode a island retirees there!
ReplyDeleteThat first picture made me laugh. I wish I'd see someone wearing that where I'd love. That would be a hoot!
ReplyDeleteDriving around in a cart would be cheaper - all you have to do is keep it charged.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great setting for a novel. Everyone wants to know the bare butt guy's story. Why don't you think on this post as a possible setting for a great cast of characters!
ReplyDeleteLots of Canadians there, too. It looks like the Disney world resort we stayed at.
ReplyDeleteI had started to read this when my husband interrupted me to talk about something. I looked down and realized what I was looking at (photo #1). Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteMay we all become old folks with a good golf swing and a sense of humor to match. What a kick!
ReplyDeleteI have friends living there. We stayed there a couple of times. A fun place to visit and there is a winery "down the road" a piece. It is beautifully kept and everyone is very friendly. We even considered buying there ourselves once. It was driving back from there to Canada that we stopped at the Silver Springs area for a night
ReplyDeleteAre those golf carts parked there? How funny.
ReplyDeleteI can't ever see myself living in a retirement community even though many of my neighbors here are retired. Guess I'll wait and see.

ReplyDeleteThat would be the dream, to be in the warm all year long.
ReplyDeleteI never realized they had TWO full moons a months at the Villages :)
ReplyDeleteClassic picture... SO very unexpected !!!

What a wonderful place. I know I'd love it there!
ReplyDeleteThe villages are quaint and adorable. They remind me of Seaside Florida. It is close to Destin, where we vacation every year. Have you heard of or been to seaside? http://www.seasidefl.com
ReplyDeleteCobblestone streets lined with pastel cottages and old time candy stores and shopping. I love it.
The Village: Too lively and lots of happy faces.
ReplyDeleteEven in reality too, the villages has happy faces than these Metro cities.
Btw the BUM in the pic is super cute. Winks. Grandpa has a funny bone! I Must Say!
I've heard of communities like this. Sounds like an awesome place to live!
ReplyDeleteThe cars are interesting. Looks like a fun place.
