First post of the new year and I'm late. Okay, I have a good excuse, but still, what a way to start the new year! I won't bore you with details and just say,
no, our house has yet to sell,
yes, we are now living in North Carolina,
no I'm not writing, just managing a big construction project, and
yes, my husband is now a teacher and taught his very first class today!
No, we aren't living in France yet and
yes it is still the plan. Live is definitely full of surprises. So today, though I am late, here are a few meme's that speak volumes about my life in this new year. I wish you all the best in 2017...

Prompt question for today -
What writing rule do you wish you’d never heard?
"Write what you know." Because, this statement is not clarified by those who say it. I may not know a street in a town I'm writing about, but that doesn't mean I can't go find out about it. Just sayin'...

Hey Lisa! No worries. You are dealing with a lot right now.
ReplyDeleteThat rule is a popular choice today.

ReplyDeleteJust keep swimming. Control what you can control.
ReplyDeleteI like the saying about finding a better dream.
Hey Li :) Late seems to be my middle (or first) name. Its so consistent my family thinks I do it on purpose. Good intentions and all that. Wow, what a packed first paragraph. I'll just send you good thoughts that is all works out. Soon.
ReplyDeleteWrite what you know definitely has room for misinterpretation. It stumped me for a while when I was a novice writer, trying desperately to follow the rules. But I'm a sci-fi/Fantasy reader, with aspirations of writing in those genre's, and who can realistically state they've ridden a unicorn or flew a space ship to an unnamed planet? Some rules contradict themselves if you take them literally.
Great quotes! You definitely have a lot going on right now. I agree with you on your rule pick. Part of writing is exploring what we don't know too, finding truths and writing where we find passion. In my eyes at least :)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Lisa. I agree with you about the 'write what you know' rule. I enjoy writing because I can explore things I don't know. Finding out about new things is what makes the journey exciting. And surely using one's imagination is a prerequisite for calling oneself a fiction writer? :) Really enjoyed this post. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteDream it, do it and I live in hope. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI've been telling my kids to be like water...be ready to adjust the whatever curves are ahead and keep going with the flow.
ReplyDeleteI love your affirmations especially the one with a woman with a past by Oscar Wilde.
ReplyDeleteShalom aleichem,
Pat
Oooh, I love book memes. They help me out of funks when I can't write.
ReplyDeleteDanger, Love, and Mystery
What important quotes and words to live by! The tagline for my first book is Fear not the unexpected. So important to remember to live life and get out of our comfort zone. We never know what will happen! :)
