Bonjour et Bienvenu! Today I started my work day with
this post. I am now in the foothills of the Pyrenees, with a lovely view and no
noise! I’ve been in larger towns for the last three weeks or so, and appreciate
the quietness of the countryside. Spring is coming. Birds are singing morning
and evening, and there are plenty of places to walk or ride a bike here. Another
form of paradise for me, because I am not a JK Rowlings. I have a hard time
writing with lots of noise, music or interruptions.
Many things have transpired to create a non-writing place
over the last two weeks, and this past weekend I felt almost at the end of my
tether. In spite of that, I have managed to make progress, though not much. I’ve
been in Mane (the name of the small town where I am right now) since Sunday night and
Monday I wrote for six hours. I hope to do the same today. I’m inspired by my
hosts to do my best. They work hard and make each day count. They “kidnapped”
me on Sunday for a lovely lunch with a special friend, then drove me to the
mountains, offering me a quiet place and the run of their home. When they come
home in the evening I am happy to see them and to help out as much as I can. They
have a lovely 4-soon-to-be-5-year-old, whom I have loved since she was born.
My husband comes to join me in 8 days! After two months
apart, needless to say I’m looking forward to seeing him. No insecurities for
the moment (fingers crossed). I’m too busy writing and “being” in the moment. I
hope whatever you are doing, the same goes for you. Au revoir…
March 7th question: How do you celebrate when you achieve a writing goal/finish a story?
If I've finished a story, I take time off to let it all sink in before sending it to Beta readers.
If I've achieved a writing goal, I sit with it awhile, and then move on the next one... For either one, champagne is always in the picture!
Please visit and thank the awesome co-hosts for March:

I am jealous of your serenity :) Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI prefer wine to champagne, but would never refuse a post-ending toast.
I can write with noise or without noise with kids or cats or, well, you get the idea! My life is crazy and I have to adjust all the time. Happy writing! Great pics
ReplyDeleteThat snow picture is amazing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting some peace and quiet. And will see your husband soon!
Now of course I love champagne, although of course I drink sparkling wine. They are not allowed to name it champagne - but it is just the same stuff. I liked your donkey pic. Cute. I am so glad you are managing to write lots - don't forget I am ready and willing to proof if you would like me to. How's the French coming along? I spent a month en famille when I was 15 and it really helped me at the time. Enjoy your reunion with your hubby.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful you're writing again and in such a lovely place. Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the lovely photos! La belle France me manque beaucoup. Time off from writing has never been my forte--but perhaps I should give it a try. Then again, travels to visit family usually provide that opportunity. They're not always understanding when I lock myself away to write for a whole morning or afternoon.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on making some progress. Love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing the photos. They're beautiful. I would love to know what brought you to your current location. Did you write about it in a previous post? Let me know. I think you touched upon the key to rising above our insecurities: being present in the moment. Easy to say, tough to do. In any case, thanks for the post. Happy March, and happy writing to you. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having a wonderful time. Glad you are getting to write and be. :) Enjoy!

I envy your fabulous view and quiet time! And such gorgeous photographs. Being in the moment is so important and something I need to work on, even when I am just in my everyday surroundings. And I totally agree - Champagne is always my go-to celebration treat!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great. Stay in the moment and keep writing. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa - this French trip sounds just what you'd wanted and is doing you the power of good - how wonderful to be seeing your hubby soon - Spring will definitely be well on it's way by then ... just enjoy all that's on offer - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous right now! Here's to a great reunion with your hubby - cheers!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa, I'd actually take either one. I miss the seasonal changes and would love to be in France. The beaches of Mexico I can go to any time.
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa! Seriously, I'm very jealous. Lucky, lucky you. Even with the snow. Although your husband's choice of place is pretty nice too. All best to you, my dear!
